At the iconic Electra Metropolis Athens hotel, Salinox undertook the implementation of special glass constructions, offering solutions that enhance superior quality and timeless character. The products installed include S-GR sliding glass roofs and SB1412 glass railings, combining cutting-edge technology with a luxurious appearance and ultimate functionality.
Innovative Sliding Glass Roofs
On the rooftop, Salinox designed and installed S-GR type sliding glass roofs. The specially designed skylights were equipped with this system, which consists of two sliding glass panels and an aluminum frame. During opening, the panels slide backward, fully clearing the building opening. To achieve this, the aluminum guides were extended into the rooftop area, providing the necessary space for storing the glass panels. The result is an open, bright, and airy space that offers a unique experience for guests.
Technology and Functionality in Sliding Roofs
The S-GR sliding glass roofs were equipped with a heavy-duty electric motor mechanism, ensuring smooth and effortless operation at the touch of a button. The glass panels used are double-glazed energy-efficient and structural, providing excellent thermal insulation and durability. The design of the structural glass allows the panels to align seamlessly with the aluminum frame, without creating a groove, allowing water to flow freely and preventing the buildup of moisture and pollutants. This technological detail adds superior functionality and enhances the experience of the space, blending flawless aesthetics with comfort.
Glass Railings with SB1412 System
At the interior balconies of the hotel, Salinox installed glass railings using the SB1412 system. This system features a robust aluminum base with dimensions of 120x140mm and is ideal for creating glass parapets of greater height. The base installation was done directly on the floor, positioned right behind the built-in parapet. This design makes the glass appear as if it is emerging from the parapet, offering a refined sense of transparency.
Safety and Construction Quality
Safety was a priority in the design of the glass railings. To ensure this, 22mm thick tempered laminated glass was used. Even in the event of breakage, the glass is held in place by its interlayer, preventing any potential accidents. This material choice, combined with the innovative design of the SB1412 system, ensures long-term durability and reliability.
