The project involved the installation of a sliding dome roof in the hotel’s lobby, offering exceptional flexibility and striking aesthetics.
The Challenge: Design and Construction of a Polygonal Curved Structure
The construction of this sliding roof posed significant challenges due to the complex geometric and engineering requirements. The roof is made up of aluminum beams that support two layers of energy-efficient glazing, each 30mm thick. These beams were meticulously crafted into a polygonal shape that forms a smooth curve, creating the visually stunning dome effect.
The geometry of the curve, coupled with the need for precise engineering, required specialized techniques and advanced computational tools for the accurate design and construction of the beams. The beams were fabricated with such precision that they interlock seamlessly, allowing for the smooth sliding motion of the roof while ensuring stability and safety.
